Abstract

316,947. Armstrong, J. J. V., (Zahnradfabrik Akt -Ges.). Aug. 6, 1929. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 7, 1929]. Clutches, ratchet.-A cageless one-way roller clutch comprises a smooth driving or driven member 1 having shallow inclines 2, against the crests S of which the rollers 5 rest during overrunning, the angle a between the radius R and line of thrust r being just greater than twice the angle of friction, so that the rollers shall not jam. The dimensions of the rollers &c. are so chosen that the lost motion in passing to the driving- position is a minimum, and the rollers may lightly touch the inner surface at two points and outer surface at one point during idling. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the angle a is just greater than the angle of friction. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 186,583, [Class 80 (iii), Linkwork &c.], and 276,090.
