Abstract
386,677. Helicopter. GROTHE, G. and BIESEMANN, J., 44, Holteistrasse, Duisburg, Germany. July 20, 1931, No. 20734. [Class 4.] A helicopter, Fig. 4, comprising a rotary engine of which the crank case rotates in one direction and the crank shaft in another, has one propeller fixed to the crank shaft and a second propeller fixed to the crank case and is steered by selectively frictionally coupling the body to the crank shaft or crank case. In one form, Fig. 1, a lever 22 pivoted to the body at 23 carries rollers 24, 25 which may be engaged by rocking lever 22 with a friction disc 19 mounted on crank shaft 18 or with a similar disc 21 mounted on a tubular extension 20 of the crank case. In a modification roller-carrying lever 22 is pivoted in a position at right-angles to that shown and in a further modification lever 22 operates a sliding clutch member adapted to engage with friction cones on members 18, 20.
