Rolling-machines.-In the manufacture of long loaves, dough portions from a divider are first moulded into balls which are delivered to storage belts where the dough is allowed to recover and is then delivered to a second shaping device for lengthening the balls into loaves. As shown, dough from a divider D is delivered by a belt 2 to a rounding-machine comprising inclined troughs 7, 7<1> co-operating with an inclined belt 3. The balls of dough are delivered through a shoot 9 and transverse conveyer 10 to storage belts 11, 12 and, after recovery, pass to a belt 13 which carries them beneath shaping and spreading plates P, P<1> which are adjustably carried in supports 14. The dough forming plate P is formed with a rounded lip 18', Fig. 6, to engage the dough and with diverging ribs 19, 19<1> which are deeper towards the middle of the plate. The plate P<1> is also deeper at the centre but is otherwise plain. Specifications 316,620 and 316,621 are referred to.
