Abstract

316,120. Johnson, G. W., (American Engineering Co.). April 23, 1928. Grates. - An extension plate for use at the lower ends of the retorts and tuyeres of an underfeed stoker consists of front and rear members 12, 32 interlocked by lugs and projections and secured by a removable key 53 the rear member 32 being readily renewable when burnt or worn out. The front member 12 consists of offset portions 14, 24 connected by a vertical wall 20 and provided on their lower sides with projections 17, 27, 29 adapted to engage with vertical walls of the stoker frame and prevent endwise movement. The portion 24 has an upwardly projecting nose 25 to engage with hooks 41 on the rear members 32 and vertical ribs 49 51 on its upper surface to form a recess for the locking key 53 which also passes through an aperture 55 in the rear member 32. The rear member is also provided at its front end with a projection 58 to engage a flange on the front section. Apertures 43, 44 are provided in the rear and front members for the passage of air. In the modification shown in Fig. 13, the rear member 32<1> is provided with a hook 64 to engage with a hook portion 65 on the rib 51<1>.
