Abstract

320,776. Stanworth, J. Oct. 26, 1928. Firebars.-A grate bar for furnaces comprises a central rib a the upper edge a<1> of which lies below the top of the bar, and narrow ribs projecting from the central rib in herring-bone formation, forming waved air passages a<4> extending uninterruptedly across the grate. The lower portion a<3> of the central rib which is under tension, is made thicker in cross-section. One end of the bar is inclined at a<6> and rests on a corresponding inclined part b<2> of the dead-plate B which has holes b to enable ashes to escape.
