Axle-trucks and bogies.-A truck or bogie frame for locomotives and railway vehicles is connected to the ends of a driving axle so as to move it laterally on curves by means of a yoke or a system of rods,' the yoke or rods passing through or beyond the bogie frame and outside the driving wheels. In the construction shown, the truck frame c<1> is connected to the main frame by a fixed or sliding pivot d' and the running axle a<1> is pivoted at one end of the truck frame. A yoke f<1> is' also pivoted at e<1> to the truck frame and its arms extend beyond the driving wheels g<1> to the ends of the driving axle b<1> to which they are connected by ball or other joints u. Thus, when the axle a<1> moves laterally on a curve the frame c' is rocked about the pivot d<1> and the axle b<1> is also moved laterally, this axle sliding in its axle-boxes. Instead of the yoke a transverse bar may be used pivoted at d<1> and connected at its ends to longitudinal levers pivoted to the main frame and to the axle ends. In a modification the yoke is connected to the axle-boxes which are thus caused to slide laterally and carry the axle with them.
