Abstract
313,981. Bolognesi, I. March 13, 1928. Drawings to Specification. Yarns &c. treating with liquids.-Artificial silk is treated with an anhydrous dehydrating organic liquid other than a solvent by a process wherein the material is continuously exposed to fresh anhydrous liquid. The water associated with the filament is removed and the dried filament has a higher tensile strength. A particularly suitable dehydrating agent is petroleum ether; others mentioned are benzene, toluene, ether, petrol, acetone, carbon disulphide and alcohol. Apparatus for carrying out the process is described.
