Delivery apparatus.-Apparatus for delivering sheets from continuousrevolution printing or other machines comprises a gripper carrier running at constant speed which drops the sheet on to an endless conveyer 18, Fig. 1, moving uniformly at a much slower speed than the carrier. The sheets 12 are taken from the impression cylinder 10 of the printing machine by grippers 14 on endless-chains 16 driven by sprocket wheels 17 at the surface speed of the cylinder. Below the chains 16 is arranged the slowly-moving conveyer 18 on which the sheets are dropped and which carries them against stop-fingers 19 engaging the edge of a narrow plate 21. The plate 21 is formed with one or more air-holes connected by means of a tube 24, Fig. 3, with a valve 25 communicating with a suction pump. The valve is connected by a link and lever to the shaft 20 of the fingers 19, so that it is kept open normally by a spring 32 or by the weight of a. cam 31 fixed to the shaft 20 and the sheet is held on the plate until the suction is released. For this purpose, an oscillating gripper-arm 26 for depositing the sheets on the pile 13 is provided with a roller 29 at its upper end adapted to engage the cam 31 and thus rotate the shaft 20 so that the valve 25 is shut and the fingers 19 raised at the same time as the grippers 28 on the arm 26 engage the sheet. Fingers 33 are provided on the table 13' to strip the sheets from the arms 26 which at that movement are almost at rest.
