Abstract

313,558. Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken. June 14, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Low-pressure metallicvapour apparatus.-In a device for the ultra-violet irradiation of substances one or more parts 8, 9 of the device which are not destined for the emission of rays are of larger diameter than the part 1 which is to emit rays, all these parts being surrounded by the substance to be irradiated during operation. By these means the mercury is caused to condense on the parts 8, 9 instead of on the part 1, thereby preventing interference with the emission of rays. The device shown has a cathode 7, and two anodes 5 separated by a screen 6.
