Roasting.-In a process for the calcination or desulphurization of zinc ores, the ore is mixed with water and a cellulosic material such as saw-dust, chaff or waste-paper pulp, and roasted in a current of air. The necessary water may be contained in the cellulosic material, The ore may be subjected to a. preliminary roast before mixing. Oxide and sulphide ores may be treated together, either mixed, or in alternate layers. Specification 216,462 is referred to.
