Abstract

312,857. Griffin, E. R. July 30, 1928. Addressing and like machines; tripping- arrangements; printing-surfaces. - A printing- device adapted to be stored in accordance with a card index system or stacked in a pile, and adapted also to be run through an addressing or like machine, is provided with oppositely disposed keepers 12, 13 for holding permanently in position an index or control tab 16 provided with an opening 16<1> whereby the tab is pivotally engaged with a projection 15. The device may comprise a one-piece printing-plate, or, as shown, a printing-plate 7 and a record card 8 may be clipped on a metal frame 9 in the usual manner. The tab may be swung over to one side or the other, and it is secured in the adjusted position by means of a projection 17, which engages either of two openings 18 in the frame. The keepers 12, 13 are formed by cutting three parallel slits in the frame and pressing one part to the back and the other to the front. After the tab is inserted, the keeper 13 is flattened against the tab so that the tab is permanently secured on the frame. The projection 15 is formed in a part 14 pressed up into line with the keeper 12. Additional keepers 19 may be provided for a tab 20.
