Abstract

Pilot jets; burners modified to facilitate igniting.-In means for igniting the burners of a gas stove or the like in which a tube 14 is arranged between a gas outlet 15 in the side wall of each burner 1 and a pilot burner 8 surrounded by a casing 7 so that, when a burner valve 4 is opened, or a burner is extinguished during operation, the gas issuing from the outlet 15 in the burner passes with air through the adjacent tube 14 and is ignited by the pilot burner, the resulting flame striking back through the tube and igniting the burner, the outer end of each tube 14 is located so that the plane of the horizontal wall of the burner provided with the main gas outlets intersects the tube approximately diametrically. A tube 20 may be similarly arranged for igniting an oven burner 5 having a lower horizontal wall provided with gas outlets. The casing 7 is provided with air inlets 11 and an aperture 13 above the pilot burner and may comprise two semi-cylindrical parts secured by screws to, or formed integral with, two sections of a stove grid. Each telescopic tube 14 may be mounted adjustably in a flange 16 on the casing 7 and provided with a locking-nut 18. The ends of the tubes 14 are provided with lips 14<a>, 17. A pilot-burner may be provided for each pair of burners 1 its casing 7 being supported by an arm on one of the burner tubes.
