Abstract

312,295. Methudy, C. E. Feb. 20, 1928. Pilot jets; burners modified to facilitate igniting.-The gas issuing from an outlet 12 in the side wall of a perforated oven burner 9 passes with air through a tube 13 and is ignited by a flash flame of a pilot-burner 4, the resulting flame striking back through the tube to the outlet 12 and igniting the burner. The pilot-burner 4 is surrounded by a casing 8 having perforations 7 through which the pilot flames are flashed by operating a valve 6 for igniting the burners 1. The gas burns at the outlet 12 out of contact with the tube 13, the outlet being spaced from the end, and below the axis, of the tube. The inner end of the tube 13 is arranged below the flame of the pilot burner.
