311,175. Hughes, Ltd., G. H., and Thursfield, A. Oct. 12, 1928. Wheel-building apparatus.- In apparatus for trueing wirespoked wheels in which the wheel is gripped between a pair of rim-centring jaws, means are provided for giving the wheel a step-by-step rotation to position the spakes in succession before the operator for adjustment. As shown, the wheel 12 is gripped between jaws 9, 14 fitted with adjustable hub-centring spindles 11, 21 respectively. The jaw 14 is rotatably mounted in a (normally) fixed journal 13a on the standard 7, and the jaw 9 is similarly mounted in an axiallyadjustable journal 8a. The periphery of the jaw 14 is formed with ratchet-teeth engaged by a oneway pawl 16 which is catried in a casing 17 forming part of a chain 18. The ends of the chain are connected to a treadle 19.
