Abstract

265,730. Forster, F. Dec. 5, 1925. Jacks. -A lifting-jack has a crutch mounted on a rectilinearly moving member, such as a nut, by means of a pair of parallel motion links, a second nut &c. carrying rollers adapted to act on a cam surface on one lever to raise the crutch. The crutch 1 is adjustably mounted in a casing 23 connected by a parallel motion linkage 19, 27 to a roller guided nut 7 on a screwed shaft 3, an oppositely threaded nut 4 on the shaft carrying rollers 33 adapted to act on cam-surfaces on the links 19 to raise the crutch, when the nuts are caused to approach each other by the rotation of the shaft. The shaft can be rotated directly by a handle, not shown, or by a rockable handle 57 carrying double-ended pawls 52 adapted to rotate bevel wheels 46 in opposite directions and so rotate an intermediate bevel wheel 54 on the shaft 3. The nut 7 carries a rod 31 provided with a cross-arm 32 which indicates the limits of movement of the crutch. A wheel 43 is provided at one end of the jack-frame and transverse brackets 70 may be mounted on the frame and carry rollers 44. A load carrying platform 67 may be mounted on the brackets 70.
