Abstract
310,365. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. April 24, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 293,410. Magnesium and other metallic chlorides.-In carrying out the process for the production of anyhydrous metallic chlorides described in the parent Specification, porous carbonized initial material prepared as described in Specification 259,498 or in Specification 275,945 is superposed on an electrically heated irrigation layer in, for example, a shaft furnace. On effecting chlorination of the carbonized material, the oxidecontaining chloride formed is fused by the heat of reaction and chlorination is completed as the fused mass flows through the irrigation layer.
