Abstract

317,259. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Oct. 24, 1928. Aluminium chloride is purified from ferric chloride by bringing its vapour into contact with fused lead. In preparing aluminium chloride by the interaction of kaolin, carbon monoxide, and chlorine, the vapours are purified by being passed through a bath of fused lead at about 400‹ C. Aluminium chloride is condensed from the purified vapours.
