Abstract

310,207. Krings, W. May 16, 1928. Stays.-A fanlight is opened and held in any position by means of a wire cable and handle 2 and a sliding piece 5 secured to the cable and engaging a plate 8 slotted at 7 in the plane of the sash and fixed thereto and a guide formed by two shaped members 10, 11 secured by a clamp to the tubular cable guide on the frame. The slotted member 8 is adjustably secured to an angle member on the sash by means of a pivot 13 and a slot and clamping bolt 14. The slot 7 is enlarged at 15 to permit removal of the slide 5, the notch so formed being covered by a catch, turnhuckle or the like 16. The cable is strengthened by a surrounding or internal helically coiled sheath or tube. The slot 8 mav be U-shaped and forme din a fixed member on. the sash and the fixed guide may be shaped as a slotted tube adapted to take a sliding piece having projecting ends. The inclination of the slot allows for sashes of different thickness and an open end thereof, which is covered by a pivoted spring catch, permits removal of the sliding piece.
