Abstract
309,707. Oddy, W. March 21, 1928. Roving and thread guides.-In spinning, doubling, and twisting machines guides E, G are mounted behind and in front of the nip rollers to ensure the encircling of a yarn Y, for example a yarn of horsehair, goat's hair, or the like, which is drawn by rollers in the usual manner, by a thread X which is drawn from a suitable source and passed through the carrier rollers. The guide E is mounted on an extension A<1> from a member A attached to the usual rear traverse bar B, and the guide G is mounted on an arm G<1> adjustably secured to a further extension A<2>. The traverse bar also carries a guide T for the thread X. To prevent the extrusion of any stiff hairs, the guide G is formed as a hollow cone and is angularly adjustable relatively to the nip rollers. A cotton or like binding-thread 0 may be used when producing yarn of horsehair or the like and is introduced in a slit G<3> formed in the guide G.
