Metal tubes.-In apparatus for spraying tops of trees or high buildings consisting of a long tubular lance interposed between a pump or other liquid supply and a spray nozzle, the lance comprises a metal tube 1 enclosed by longitudinal strips of wood 2 secured by clamping rings 3. Fig. 3. The casing may consist of two or more strips of wood 2 hollowed to receive the tube, provided with friction material such as emery cloth to grip the tube and clamped by bands 3 and an adjustable screw 4. Two or more lengths of such tubing may be connected by flanges attached to the, upper ends and adapted to screw into sockets carried by the lower end of the next tube, leather or other washers being interposed to make a good joint. The apparatus may be provided at its upper end with a nozzle of the kind described in Specification 314.177, [Class 99 (i), Pipes and tubes, Joints &c. for].
