Abstract

309,264. White, J. Feb. 6, 1928. Feeding in definite proportions.-In a machine for mixing road-making materials the bitumen 'emulsion or other liquid is supplied to the mixing drum by forcing it from the supply tank by compressed air &c. to a measuring-tank which discharges by gravity to the drum. The apparatus consists of a plug 6 fitting the mouth of the emulsion tank 7 and provided with two pipes 10, 5, leading to the measuring tank 11, and from an air compressor 4, respectively. The measuring tank 11, which may be provided with a float and pointer associated with a scale, is fitted with a trough or plate 13 to prevent frothing, and with a discharge valve 12 leading to the mixing drum 1.
