Abstract

309,158. Soie de Chatillon. April 7, 1928, [Convention date]. Apparatus for making filaments.-For the recovery of the solvent used in the dryspinning of artificial silk &c.. there is employed a cell characterized in that a pipe or similar device for condensing the solvent vapour is located entirely within the cell and is adjacent and substantially parallel to the path of travel of the filaments. Thus, the cell A, Fig. 1, is provided with a tube C through which cooling liquid circulates, the solvent thus condensed being collected and led off by means of funnel D. In another form of apparatus the cooling device is a single cylindrical pipe extending the length of, and lying within the cell. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also refers generally to cells in which cooling surfaces of tubular or other form are disposed within the cell and claims a cell characterized by cooling apparatus which completely surrounds the filament throughout its entire length or only a portion thereof. An apparatus is also described in which the lower part of the cell is surrounded by a separate cooling jacket for the condensation of solvent, vapour. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
