Abstract

309,016. Nicholl, G. Jan. 3, 1928. Siphon-discharge water-waste preventers. - A flushing cistern is provided with a member having two flat vertical sides and partitioned to form a passage having a U-portion 21, Fig. 4, to form a water seal, and two concentric inverted U-bends 19, 20. A second water seal is provided in the flush pipe below the cistern. The bend 19 is connected by a pipe provided with a check valve 6<b> to the casing of an air release valve operated by a press button spindle 15, Fig. 6. The spindle 15 is connected to a float 11 by a rod 10 passing through an L-shaped slot in a member 16, the arrangement being such that the spindle cannot be moved to open the air release valve 26 until the water in the cistern is at a predetermined level.
