Emulsions, making.-Substances which may be used as dispersion agents in the textile, leather, and allied industries are prepared by converting alcohols corresponding to the higher fatty acids into sulphuric esters by the action of sulphuric acid, or oleum. Thus, olein alcohol gives the sulphuric ester of hydroxystearin alcohol, and the stearin alcohol may be esterified in the same way.
