Abstract

308,693. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. March 26, 1928, [Convention date]. Ink.-For printing on photographic gelatine layers, and more particularly for producing serial numbers or inscriptions on kinematograph films, a printing medium is used comprising a solution of one or several dyestuffs in an organic solvent to which water has been added; or alternatively a mixture of an aqueous solution of one or several dyestuffs with a solution in an organic solvent of one or several dyestuffs which are insoluble in water. The result produced is a deeper penetration of the dyestuff into the gelatine without much swelling, and ability to withstand prolonged water treatment without material loss of colour intensity. Two particular examples of dye compositions are given.
