Abstract
331,042. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. May 9, 1929. Addition to 308, 693. [Class 98 (ii), Photographic processes &c.]. Roll-film cartridges.-The sensitive surface at the ends of a roll-film is coloured by the process described in the parent Specification, according to which water-soluble as well as water-insoluble colouring matters are used provided they are soluble in organic solvents to which water has been added. A portion of the surface can be left untreated to form visible inscriptions. The colour and degree of colour are determined by the sensitivity of the emulsion, and as there is sufficient length to form several protecting layers, the extension need not be completely non-actinic. A tanning agent may be used to increase the stability of the colouring matter, and a wetting medium (e.g. sodium phenylacetate or saponin) can be incorporated to ensure uniform colouration.
