457,081. Safety-paper; inks; printing. STEVENS, A. H., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.-(Todd Co., Inc.; Rochester, New York, U.S.A.) Dec. 21, 1935, No. 35450. [Class 96] [See also Groups XV and XVI] Safety-paper for cheques &c. is moistened by passing one or more times through a bath 25 of water which may contain dye, size, &c. and expressing excess by rollers 14, 15 and 17, 18, a warning is printed on using a water-miscible ink, the paper being then dried, and finished at 27 &c., the warning being normally invisible but giving colour reactions with chemical eradicators. The ink may contain diphenol and diphenylguanidine &c. or 1, 3, 5, aminomethylchlorobenzothiazole or its sulphate, hydrochloride, &c., e.g. with gum arabic in glycerine or as a varnish with turkey red oil &c. The paper may be printed, using an oscillating roll 23 and wound moist to allow the ink to penetrate.
