Cutting vegetables.-Cabbage stalks placed one behind another in a trough 26 are forced between gripping wheels 5 that pass them to feeding wheels 5<1> which force the stalks against a knife 28 having several cutting members that cut the stalks longitudinally. The shafts carrying the gripping and the feeding wheels are carried by links connected by rods 18, 18<1>, with arms 19, 19<1>, projecting from shafts urged by springs to pull on the rods 18, 18<1>, and so to close the gripping and the feeding wheels on the stalks. The cut stalks fall into a receiver and are used as food for cattle. The machine is driven by hand or a motor. The cutting device may be removed for sharpening.
