Abstract

249,652. Renzi, W. de, Adamson, J., and Wilson, J. Feb. 24, 1925. Bread.-A machine for cutting or slitting buns, cookies, or the like preparatory to the insertion of butter, sweetmeat or the like, comprises two superposed endless belts a, b and a knife c positioned between them, the buns being carried forward between the belts and slit by the knife. The lower belt b may be provided with spikes t, both belts a, b are trained over spring-loaded tensioning-pulleys, and the belts are connected by parallel swinging arms v whereby the space between them may be varied. A guard u protects the operator from the spikes t, and the belts a, b are interconnected by gearing p, p<1> enclosed in a casing p'. . A fence m extends longitudinally along one side of the machine and positions the buns relatively to the knife c which has an inclined cutting-edge. The machine may be provided with an automatic feeding arrangement.
