Abstract

307,920. Farque, L. March 16, 1928, [Convention date]. Bobbins, cops, &c. - Metallic cops for use in spinning or weaving are formed by welding or otherwise joining two halves 1, 2, Fig. 3, along diametrically opposite generators 9, 10 and then hammering the cop to its finished shape in suitable formers. If welded electrically the halves 1, 2 are disposed on an electrode 6, Fig. 2, having a bore 11 for the circulation of cooling liquid, the movable electrode 8 serving to form a continuous joint or to weld the members at separate points. Ferrules or sockets 12, 13 and binding-rings 14, Fig. 4, are also secured by welding and the finished cop is galvanized. Instead of the whole cop either the body or socket members may be thus formed of half shells.
