Abstract

302,064. Imperial Chemical Industries, and Paterson, J. H. Dec. 30, 1927. Uniting by fusion. - An arc welding electrode consists of a number of parallel wire strands 1 welded together at intervals 2. The wires may consist of iron, nickel or copper separately or in combination. A number of strands 3 of asbestos fibre &c. may be inserted between the wires to act as a flux, being preferably located so'that they do not come to the surface of the electrode and thus interfere with the conductivity thereof. The fibre may be soaked in sodium carbonate solution or otherwise treated to modify the properties of the electrode.
