Treating-materials; oxidizing.-Sewage, from which the larger solid bodies have been separated, is filtered through combustible material, such as bituminous or other coal, peat, wood, coke or charcoal, and then subjected to oxidation by passage through porous material such as coke. Potassium nitrate may be mixed with, or sprinkled' over, the filtering-material to promote oxidation.
