307,426. Naamlooze Vennootschap Electrochemische Industrie. March 7, 1928, [Convention date]. Treating with air and gases.-Grain, flour, meal, and milling products are subjected to the action of a current of air which has been activated by being passed through a solution of a persulphate or of monoperacid salts to which solution chlorine ions are added, while, if required, the solution is acidified. The process may be combined with the ordinary processes of treating the material with peroxides, persulphates, bromates, &c. In a specific example air is passed through a solution containing monopersulphuric acid (prepared by mixing 10 parts of potassium persulphate with 30 parts of strong sulphuric acid) to which 50 parts of water, 10 parts of ammonium sulphate and 10 parts of ammonium chloride are added. The air so treated is incorporated with wheaten flour.
