Fastenings for casing and like covers.-Covers of tanks or casings (particularly the lids of switch tanks and other electrical apparatus, such as that described in Specification 306,862, [Class 38 (v), Electric switches &c.], are raised by a screw-operated toggle 4, 5 hinged on the casing and connected to the cover by means of a pin on the cover working in an open slot 6 in the toggle. The arrangement is such that the open end of the slot extends over uprights 9 attached to the casing, and complete withdrawal of the cover is prevented until the toggle has been straightened a certain amount, and the cover raised a corresponding amount. In the arrangement shown, double toggles (one at each side) are provided at each end of the casing. All the toggles are interconnected and they are operated by a single handactuated screw-pin 11 passing through the pivot pin of one of them. Straps 15 on the members 5 of the toggle surround the uprights and serve to guide the members. When the cover has been adequately raised, as shown in dotted lines, the cover can be removed entirely.
