Abstract

946,297. Switchgear structures. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 15, 1960 [July 17, 1959], No. 24616/59. Heading H2B. An isolator for incorporation in a switchgear cubicle comprises fixed contacts 13, 14, movable contacts 17 supported by a carrier 18, sliding shutters 29, 30 to cover the fixed contacts when the isolator is open, and shutter operating levers 37, 38 driven by pin-and-slot connections 41, 43 and 42, 44 from the carrier 18. The carrier 18 is guided by pins 20, 21 engaging in slots 22 in side plates 11 and is operated by a handle 24 through links 25, 26. The slots 43, 44 are provided in drive plates 19 secured to the carrier 18. A spring 48 biases the lower shutter 29 so that it tends to move upwardly.
