Abstract
526,975. Switchgear structures. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., COX, H. E., and GIBSON. A. C. March 30, 1939, No. 9979. [Class 38 (v)] The plugging contact 8 of the circuit-breaker 11 is adapted selectively to engage either of the sets of contacts 5, 6 pertaining to the duplicate busbars 2, 3. The breaker 11, which may be of the air-break type as described in Specifications 522,290 and 522,291, is mounted on a frame 10 which is pivoted at 12 to links 13 on a shaft 14, which is rotatable by means of a lever 15 co-operating with detents 16. The breaker is withdrawn for isolation by rotation about pivot 12 by means of a linkage 17, 18, the common pivot of which is engaged by a cam 19 operated by a handle 20, the lever 15 being then actuated upwards from the position shown to change the busbar-connections. The weight of the structure is counterbalanced for horizontal and vertical movement by springs 24, 23, respectively operating in tension and compression, and the breaker is itself actuated by the handle 21 and flexible cable 22. The cable contact 7 is engaged by either limb of the lower contact 9.
