Pulverulent-fuel furnaces.-A coal-dust furnace intended particularly for locomotives is provided with main burners b, c, e which are so graded that more than two different heating powers are obtained by using the burners separately and collectively. In the example shown, the burner b is double the size of the burners c and e together. The burners c and e may be combined and arranged above or below the burner b. In all cases the burners are symmetrically disposed about the central plane of the combustion chamber and used so as to effect uniform heating. An auxiliary burner a is also provided for use when the main burners are out of action.
