306,959. S. I. R. I. Soc. Italiana Ricerche Industriali. Feb. 29, 1928, [Convention date]. Producers.-A gas-producer is worked at high temperature with a blast of oxygen admixed with steam or carbon dioxide, and the ash in the form of fine dust is carried away with the gas. The alkali and alkaline earth constituents of the ash are converted to oxides or hydroxides, and, on passing the gas into water, facilitate removal of carbon dioxide and sulphur compounds; any ash escaping from the washer is removed in dust separators.
