Abstract
306,578. Pringle, A., and Fairbairn Lawson Combe Barbour, Ltd. Aug. 15, 1927 [date given under Sect. 15 of the Acts being that of 288,081]. Sprindle apparatus; spindle and lifting rails.- In apparatus for spinning or twisting flax, jute or other fibrous materials, of the type having an inverted flyer or cup B, Figs. 1 and 2, provided with a dragged ring C, the bobbin E is driven from and traversed vertically up and down the non-traversable spindle A. The bobbin-carrier F is formed with projections f<1> engaging slots b<1> in the flyer B and retained on the builder rail G by a plate g. The bobbin E is secured to the carrier F by driving keys f , Fig. 1, or centrifugally-operated pins F<1>, Fig. 2. The ring C is retarded by a spring-clip drag-band D having an adjusting screw d<1>. In a modification, the drag band engages rollers c<2>, Figs. 4 and 5, mounted at an angle in pockets c<1> and running in contact with the upper end of the flyer B. The yarn may pass from the thread eye round the outside of the member B and be delivered over the top rim by a spiral thread or spiral slit formed in the ring C.
