Abstract
306,443. Zipper, E., and Zipper, W. Feb. 20, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Signs of the daylight reflector type are provided with means such as a rotatable or oscillating mirror or an oscillating shutter to cause intermittent illumination of the sign and shielded lamps and pivoted auxiliary reflector or reflectors are provided for artificial illumination. A sign of the front stencil type having one or, as shown, two stencils b, Fig. 1, has a single or double faced mirror f rotatably mounted on a spindle c, so that by rotating the mirror the sign is intermittently illuminated. For artificial illumination an auxiliary reflector j mounted on the spindle c is rotated so as to close the top of the sign casing, the sign being illuminated by lamps i which are shielded by screens h. In a modification, a pair of auxiliary reflectors j<1>, j<2>, Fig. 3, are used and as shown serve as shields to the display faces during daylight illumination. A modification of the top stencil type has a shutter n, Fig. 4, mounted on a pivot m, so that it can be oscillated to intermittently obscure the beam of light from the stencil b<1>.
