Abstract

Exhaust silencers.-A cylindrical casing a contains a number of fans f, adapted to be rotated by the flow of the gases, and mounted on a shaft d fixed in transverse members e arranged at right angles to one another. The gases enter at b and leave by an outlet c which may be of fishtail form. A plate h in the inlet b serves to deflect the gases on to one half of the area of the first fan. The fans are spaced by tubular distance pieces g, and the shaft d is hollow and provided with holes j to convey lubricant from a lubricator k through a duct l.
