Abstract
304,747. Tassel, L. H. Aug. 7, 1928. [A. Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 28, 1929]. Window holders for sliding sashes. - Flexible sliding windows for road vehicles having fixed tops or hoods are opened by sliding them upwardly into fixed channel guides 8 in the hood, said guides comprising a curved member 10 in which is housed a helical spring 11 engaging a pressure plate 12 bearing on the edge of the cellu. loid window 4 and serving to hold it in any adjusted position. The front pillar 5 comprises a channel similar to that in the hood joined to the windscreen pillar 15 by means of an integral strip 13, and the rear pillar 7 is similar to the front but secured to the hood frame. The middle pillar 6 is mounted by means of a bracket 35 on a hinged arm 36 and is extended by a spring 37 against a knob on an extension of the arm. The arm 36 is pivoted at 41 to one member of the hinge 43 and when the windows are open it may be swung upwardly to the hood by first freeing it from the body or projection thereon and subsequently hinging it on the pivots 41, 43. The celluloid panels have metal bands secured to the upper and lower horizontal edges, said bands extending if desired into the guide channels. The lower metal band 29 is enlarged at 30 to engage a lip 33 on a weathering strip 31 on the body. The vertical edges of the celluloid may have thin metal strips secured thereto. Handles 34 are provided on both sides of the member 29. Other forms of holder such as spring strips secured to the curved channel member may be used.
