Abstract

Hand-trucks.-In hand-trucks having an elevating load platform operated by means of an arched handle lever, the lever is connected together rigidly at its lower ends to a sleeve rotatable on an axle and provided with an arm by which the load platform is raised, means being also provided for locking and unlocking the handle lever and the load platform. The lower ends of the arched lever 7, Figs. 1, 2, 3, are connected to a sleeve 6 rotatable on an axle 5 carried by a cross member 4. The sleeve is provided with an arm 8 for raising the load platform 3 which is connected to the frame 1 by links 2. The platform is looked in its raised position by the engagement of hooks 19, 20, disengagement when desired being accomplished by means of a foot lever 18 mounted on a shaft 17 and tappets 16<1>, 19<1> to raise the hook 19. An arm 12 on the sleeve 6 is engaged by a weighted bell-crank lever 14, 15 when the lever 7 is upright and the lever 7 is disengaged by the foot lever 8 and shaft 17 operating a tappet 16 to lift the ball crank lever 14, 15. In the modification shown in Fig. 8 the lever is locked in position by means of spring-pressed noses 33 engaging notches 31 in plates 30 fixed to the frame. In another form the foot lever projects from the rear of the truck.
