Abstract
304,457. Laird, T. H. Jan. 9, 1928. Rollers.-In pressing-rollers for spinning, roving, or like frames for jute and other textiles of the kind in which a ring of leather or like material is fitted in a peripheral groove, in the roller and in which disc or ring-like side plates or the like are used having internally projecting flanges adapted to form the bottom of the peripheral groove, the outer surfaces 16 of the flanges 15 of the side plates 10 are so shaped that when the side plates are bolted together, the leather ring 12 is tightened) and forced outwards so as to take a firm bearing throughout, and its sides are compressed and firmly held. Felt, cork, or like resilient packing 18 may be inserted below the leather. The hub 9 may be formed of wood or of fibre and provided with ledges to accommodate the side plates, or it may be formed of metal with one of the side plates integral therewith.
