Capsules, crown-corks, and the like, applying.-A device for use in securing capsules on bottles, &c., comprises two rigid jaws, 1, 1, having approximately semi-circular operative surfaces which grip the cap on opposite sides and force the skirt thereof into engagement with the bottle neck. The device is operated by hand levers 2, 2 and the jaws are pivoted to a common link 3. In operation the part b rests on the top of the cap and the skirt thereof is closed in bv the semi-circular projections a<1>, a'.
