Abstract

303,867. International General Electric Co., Inc., (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.). Jan. 11, 1928, [Convention date]. Synthetic resins, processes for making artificial silk from.-Artificial silk is prepared from synthetic resins of the glycerol-phthalic-anhydride type. For example, the resin, in a stage prior to the final or C-stage, may be extruded at a temperature of 150-200‹ C. into the air, and the filaments so obtained reeled and completely baked. Alternatively, the initial or A-stage resin may be dissolved in a solvent such as acetone and the solution extruded into a coagulating bath such as water at ordinary temperature, the filaments leaving the bath being dried and baked. In either event plasticizers such as triphenyl or tricresyl phosphate may be mixed with the resin.
