Abstract
303,649. Newall, H., and Crosfield & Sons, Ltd., J. Jan. 5, 1928. Roller presses. - The apparatus comprises pressure rollers 1, 2, and a drum or cylinder 3, loosely mounted on the roller 2 and through the surface of which liquid, expressed from crushed oil seed or other material 4, passes. The liquid is collected in a trough 6 and discharged through an outlet 7. The surface of the drum 3 may be built up wires 13, wedge-shaped in cross-section, which rest in peripheral grooves in a series of rings 9, spaced apart on rods 10 by washers 11. The ends of the wires may extend into recesses in the outer rings 12, which may be of larger diameter than the other rings so as to form flanges for the drum. Shorter wires secured by intermediate rings 14 may be used.
