Abstract
272,118. Jackson, L. Mellersh-, (Krupp Grusonwerk Akt.-Ges., F.). Jan. 14, 1927. Fats and fatty oils, extracting by solvents.-In extracting apparatus in which the material passes through several containers where it is repeatedly subjected to pressure, the solvent passes in the same direction as the material through each container but in the opposite order of succession. The apparatus comprises three containers 1, 2, 3 to which the seeds &c. are fed at the lower ends through pipes 8, 10, 12 and which contain in their upper ends known pressure devices in heads 5, 6, 7 to which seeds are fed by worms 4. The fresh solvent is supplied through a pipe 13 to the bottom of the container 3 and passed with the seeds up the container 3 to the pressing chamber 7 where the expressed material passes away through a pipe 15 while the mixture of solvent and oil pass to the bottom of the container 2 through a pipe 14 where it meets the partly expressed material from the container 1 supplied through the pipe 10 and is carried therewith to the pressure chamber 6 of the container 2. In a modification the pressing devices and worms are driven separately and fresh solvent may be supplied automatically to each container.
