Abstract
303,643. Bailey, J. Dec. 29, 1927. Razors, safety.-In a safety razor in which the cutting edge is inclined to the handle, the cover and guard plates are of angle section. As shown, two razor blades 3, Fig. 3, are clamped between cover and guard plates 1, 2 of angle section by screwing a member 13 on the plate 1 into the end of the handle 12. The end of the handle 12 may be conical , or it may be flat and engage with a boss on the underside of the guard. The guard plate 2 has a groove 7 under the cutting edge of the blade and the edge of the guard may be formed with or without teeth 6. Each blade 3 may have two cutting edges. The handle may be integral with the guard plate and the parts may be clamped together by a screwed member passing through the handle and engaging with the screw on the cover plate. In a modification in which only a single blade is used, the cover and guard plates 1, 2, Fig. 9, have extensions 16, 17 one of which is locally thickened as at 18 to increase the clamping effect on the blade 3.
