Abstract

714,122. Razors. HULVERSCHEIDT, H. July 15, 1952 [July 17, 1951], No. 17876/52. Class 30 A safety razor comprises three or more blades of the same dimensions disposed between transversely curved cover and guard plates and a transversely curved spacing plate between adjacent blades, the curvatures of the surfaces in contact with the blades increasing from the guard plate towards the cover plate so that the distances apart of the cutting edges of each blade decrease in this direction and the cutting edges are disposed in a plane, the curvature also being such that the edge portions of the blades, when viewed from the side, are parallel to one another on each side of the razor. As shown, blades 5, and interposed spacing plates 8, mounted on pins on a cover plate 2 are clamped against a guard 3 by screwing a handle' 4 on the centre pin of the cover plate. The curvature of greater than that of its lower side and is the upper side of each spacing plate is the same as the curvature of the lower side of the spacing plate next above. Inwardly curved portions 9 on the upper surface of each spacing plate and a corresponding outwardly curved portions 10 on the underside of each spacing plate and of the cover plate 2 render the projecting edge portions of the blades parallel. The invention may be applied to safety razors having hinged retaining members, in which case the spacing plates are also hinged to the razor, and in converting an existing razor when a spacing plate having the required curvature 10 is inserted beneath the cover plate.
